Matt Blunt offers some advice in yesterday's Wall Street Journal: How Missouri Cut Junk Lawsuits: We showed how to do malpractice reform, if Congress wants a model.

Not to toot my own horn too much, but last year I was one of the Suburban Journals Opinion Shapers.  Here are my columns:

• Income may be static, but standard of living rising
• Government making life more expensive for us
• Health-care industry better as private enterprise

And here's a letter returned in response to the last: Public versus private.  Frankly, I've gotten a little disheartened trying to hold rational discussions about issues with people because too often people who believe in the positions of the other party do so because they do, and their defenses of the same are sloppy, unreasoned mischaracterizations, straw men, or outright attacks.

Remember, it only takes a little time to write a letter to the editor, but it can pay great dividends in influencing public thought.  If only those of the opposite viewpoint speak up, many uncommitted people will confuse our silence for consensus.  We need to speak and write up.  You can find the addresses of several publications that accept letters and op-ed pieces in our Reference section.

It would seem that Representative Joe Wilson's outburst during President Obama's recent speech before Congress might have led to Congress's insertion of provisions to prevent an ObamaCare health reform from covering illegal aliens.  President Obama has a solution: amnesty.

President Obama said this week that his health care plan won't cover illegal immigrants, but argued that's all the more reason to legalize them and ensure they eventually do get coverage.
